It would be remiss not to point out that early October is by far the best time of the year to visit Dallas. The reason is because every October Dallas hosts the Texas State Fair. Prepare for some crowds, as this fair attracts around three and a half million people over the three weeks that it runs. This fair has everything from Big Tex, the 52 foot cowboy statue, to the most inventive food put on a stick, including fried cheesecake. There are the traditional vegetable and animal competitions, expected at a state fair, as well as rides including North America's largest ferris wheel, the Texas Star. There is definitely something for everyone at this annual event.
