So what does this sprawling metro region have to offer? Visit the aquarium, with tunnels through impressive displays that have marine life from around the world. If you want a little more excitement, take in a hockey game with the Dallas Stars or a football game with the Cowboys. Check out the Sixth Floor Museum to see the infamous book depository or head to the Dallas Museum of Art. The Dallas & Fort Worth Metroplex also offers hundreds of shopping opportunities, has well over 100 golf courses, hosts a team in every major sport and NASCAR, has world recognized cultural activities including the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the most per capita restaurants in the nation, and a seasonal climate that provides the area with outdoor festivals year round.

It would be remiss not to point out that early October is by far the best time of the year to visit Dallas. The reason is because every October Dallas hosts the Texas State Fair. Prepare for some crowds, as this fair attracts around three and a half million people over the three weeks that it runs. This fair has everything from Big Tex, the 52 foot cowboy statue, to the most inventive food put on a stick, including fried cheesecake. There are the traditional vegetable and animal competitions, expected at a state fair, as well as rides including North America's largest ferris wheel, the Texas Star. There is definitely something for everyone at this annual event.
